A French man who was caught having an intimate experience with a woman over the years has been arrested for allegedly purchasing Viagra from a French online pharmacy, police said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the arrest warrant holder confirmed that an undercover agent from the French Ministry of Public Security intercepted a package sent by a customer of a British online pharmacy called "Viagra".
The undercover agent was detained on suspicion of ordering Viagra from a French online pharmacy and selling it without a prescription, the statement said.
The police are investigating whether the alleged sale of Viagra could be related to the sale of the counterfeit medication "Pfizer's Original", said the statement.
"Police are working with law enforcement agencies around the world to identify and detain those who may have purchased Viagra online from a French online pharmacy," the statement said.
The undercover agent, who has not been named, has been detained for several days in a French prison, it said.
"This case should prompt public and national governments to take appropriate action against those who have purchased Viagra online from a French online pharmacy. We look forward to receiving the results of our investigation," police said.
